Celebrate Summer on Budapest's Bridge

People staying in cheap hotels in Budapest this summer will be able to celebrate the season in one of the city's iconic locations.

Every weekend between June 28th and August 17th will see the city's famous Chain Bridge host various events and celebrations.

The festivities will take place on the bridge itself and its surroundings on the Pest and Buda sides of the river.

Every year the season's events are opened by the Bridge Festival, an occasion that has proved popular for many years.

Another highlight of the summer celebrations is the Budapest Carnival, which was originally held to celebrate the withdrawal of Soviet troops in the early 1990s.

Other events taking place throughout June and into August will include live music concerts, theatre and dance group performances, puppet shows and craft fairs.

The Chain Bridge, which is officially known as Szechenyi Lanchid in Hungarian, is one of Budapest's most famous landmarks and has connected the two sides of the capital city across the River Danube since 1849.
