Explore Hungarian Architecture in Budapest

Explore Hungarian architecture in Budapest People staying in cheap hotels in Budapest will be able to learn all about the city's rich architectural history at a special exhibition being held this year.

On September 15th, Budapest's city archives opened an exhibition exploring neo-renaissance architecture that will run until December 31st.

By showcasing the work of Miklos Ybl, the city is representing one of the major design trends of the late 19th century and exhibiting the largest collection of material relating to the architectural heritage of Hungary.

Visitors will be able to see plans for the 'fovamhaz', or main customs house, the opera house and the buildings of the palace quarter.

In addition to the architectural designs, the exhibition includes period photographs of significant buildings and work by other designers and planners, including Alajos Hauszmann and Imre Steindl.

Budapest is home to a number of buildings and structures that may be of interest to visitors, including Buda Castle, Heroes' Square and Saint Stephen's Basilica.
