High Culture in Beautiful Budapest

Fans of opera and ballet could head to the beautiful and historic city of Budepest this summer.

Starting on July 4th 2006, the thoughtfully titled Budafest Summer Music Festival will bring a variety of shows to several of the city's venues.

In addition to traditional Hungarian music and performance, international performances will take place, such as the Latin and Cuban music seen at last year's event.

The Hilton Dominican Court, the basilica and the city's Opera House will stage this year's performances, beginning with a ballet gala of the Hungarian state Opera.

Continuing through to August 17th, when the show will end with a balletic interpretation of Shakespeare's The Taming of The Shrew.

Established by VIP Arts Management, the event now sees its 15th incarnation, with performances of Puccini and Verdi taking place side by side with the Hot Jazz Band.

Budapest, famous for its health and thermal spas, is becoming an increasingly attractive destination among British holidaymaker.
