Red, White and Rose on the Blue Danube

Red, white and rose on the blue Danube Wine lovers will have a good reason to head to Budapest in September, as the Hungarian capital hosts its own wine festival.

The Budapest International Wine Festival, running from September 5th to the 18th, is a great chance for visitors staying in cheap hotels in the city to sample a wide range of wines and champagne from many countries.

According to festival organisers, this year's special guest country is South Africa, so there will be plenty of produce from the Cape Wineries in places such as Stellenbosch, Paarl and Groot Constantia to try out.

In addition to all this, the festival includes the arts, as a range of performers strut their stuff to provide further entertainment, including a harvest parade and a gala concert.

Other Budapest attractions include the wide and famous River Danube with its many bridges and islands, fine buildings such as Buda Castle and the Bauhaus, plus the city's many Turkish baths.
