Full of Pride in Reykjavik

Full of pride in Reykjavik Reykjavik comes alive every summer with the Reykjavik Gay Pride event between August 9th and 12th.

A host of parades, parties and performances take place across the Icelandic capital to celebrate its thriving gay and lesbian scene, attracting some 40,000 visitors from all over the world.

The official Gay Pride Opening Ceremony takes place on August 10th at Austurbaer Theater, with live shows from the likes of Jimmy Somerville, Miss Vicky and Pay TV, among others, followed by the Pride Party.

August 11th sees the main Gay Pride Parade make its way from Hlemmur Bus Terminal to the old city centre in Laekjargata, following which more live music will be on hand to entertain the crowds, as well as the Pride Dance at Club Nasa. The event closes in style on August 12th with a Pride Club brunch at Q-Bar.

Last year's event saw 55,000 people in the city at one point just for the celebrations - meaning that if you're looking to investigate cheap hotels in Reykjavik you might want to start soon to avoid being disappointed.
