Go Viking in Reykjavik

Go Viking in Reykjavik Holidaymakers who fancy trying the Viking way of life could seek out cheap hotels in Reykjavik and attend the annual Viking Festival.

Taking place in June every year, this event celebrates all aspects of Viking life in the Viking Village, which was specially built for the festival, reports Whatsonwhen.com.

Attendees can stroll through Viking markets selling all manner of arts and crafts, and watch costumed fighters demonstrate Viking battles.

A full-blown Viking feast is also on offer for those hungry after the day's activities, with plenty of traditional food and drink available to satisfy any appetite.

In addition to the festivities at Reykjavik, two separate Viking markets also take place at Sauoarkrokur and Hafnarfjörour. Other countries that have experienced the festival in recent years include Italy and Greenland.

The festival is always well attended by locals and travellers alike, and provides a perfect excuse to journey to Iceland for a short break.
