Norse about music The country that produced Bjork has more music on offer at the Iceland Airwaves music festival from October 18th to the 22nd.

Performances will take place in seven different venues around the heart of Reykjavik, featuring a range of Icelandic and international bands.

Among the key acts named so far are Kaiser Chiefs, who will share the festival with local bands bearing names such as Worm is Green and Cocktail Vomit, as well as emerging UK bands such as The Cribs and Spektrum.

Reykjavik is home to more than half the population of the land of ice and fire, with plenty of accommodation options including cheap hotels.

The city can be used as a start-point for touring the rest of the country, offering stunning landscapes of tundra, glaciers and hot springs, especially the world renowned Blue Lagoon near the international airport, a great place for a swim in the hot, mineral-rich waters.
