Alternative Cinema Comes to Dublin

Alternative cinema comes to Dublin LOOK OUT!, Dublin's own gay and lesbian film festival is offering a break from the norm this July.

Starting on August 3rd and running to August 7th 2006, the event is a celebration of "the best of international queer cinema".

Consisting of documentaries, short films and features, organisers describe the festival as a means of attaining equality of recognition and protection of intimate homosexual relationships.

The organisers also aim to provoke discussion, not only among lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender visitors, but also among all visitors.

This year's films will focus on a diverse range of international films, the "flavour of which" is aimed to reflect the ethnic diversity that exists within the gay and lesbian community in modern Ireland.

Showcased at the Irish Film Institute, the 14th incarnation of the festival is expected to attract some 5,000 visitors over the weekend and both cinemas are fully wheelchair accessible and feature technology for the hearing impaired.
