Drop in Dublin Hotel Prices
Hotel prices in Dublin fell by over ten per cent in the last few months of 2005, according to latest figures.
Tourism chiefs have commented that they are determined to give visitors to the Irish city better value for money, reports Hotels magazine.
A survey by website hotels.com reveals that the average price of a stay in a two star hotel was 89 (£61), which is down more than a fifth on the same period in 2004.
At the lower end of the market there was an even smaller average price gap between two star and three star hotels.
Prices for a stay at a four star hotel also dropped by a fifth to 130, with the cost of a night in a five star falling by a quarter to 183.
"There is serious determination on giving value for money and getting the volume through," John Power, chief executive of the Irish Hotels Federation, told the magazine.
Overall, the cost of staying at a hotel in Europe fell 8.7 per cent in the final quarter of last year, compared with the same period in 2004.
