Online travel community TripAdvisor polled 1,400 holidaymakers around the world and found that Dublin is considered the most welcoming city, followed by Amsterdam and London.
People staying in cheap hotels in Paris will be in for a good time if they are looking for good food and shopping opportunities, according to the poll.
Rome was voted the second best city in Europe for cuisine, while London reportedly has the continent's second best shopping scene.
The English capital topped the list in other categories, with respondents saying that the city offers the best nightlife and the most enjoyable public parks.
People staying in cheap hotels in Venice will be able to explore the second most romantic city in Europe, according to the research, while Prague is the number one location for a bargain trip.
