Dublin to Get Cinematic
The city of Dublin will screen over 100 Irish and international movies between February 15th and 24th next year during its annual film festival.
One of Ireland's major cultural events, the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival will have its sixth outing in 2008, with a new director at the helm.
There will be a number of highlights to the celebration next year, including a screening of silent classic Pandora's Box with live accompaniment.
Nearly 80 years after its initial release this film remains one of the best known and most popular of all the movies to come out of the silent era.
Live music to accompany the screening will be provided by 3epkano, a group that blends contemporary compositions with string instruments, drums and electric guitars.
Another point of interest, particularly for sport fans, will be Waveriders, which explores the culture of surfing and will have its world premiere at the Dublin film festival.
People staying in cheap hotels in Dublin who make it to see this film may get the opportunity to meet director Joel Conroy and producer Margo Harkin, who will attend the screening.
