Historic Theatre Festival to Come Back to Dublin

Historic theatre festival to come back to Dublin The Ulster Bank Dublin Theatre Festival will once again be held in the Irish capital in 2008, this year for the 51st time.

Established in 1957, the event is the oldest dedicated theatre festival in Europe and one of the world's few remaining English language theatre festivals.

It will be held at venues throughout the city between September 25th and October 12th.

One of the highlights of this year's festival will be a production of The Year of Magical Thinking, which will star Vanessa Redgrave and run at the Gaiety Theatre from September 30th to October 4th.

This play has been adapted for the stage by Joan Didion from her best-selling memoir of the same name.

It tells the story of her life following the death of her husband, creating a portrayal of a woman whose world is turned upside down, from the ordinary to the unimaginable.

The Observer described The Year of Magical Thinking, which has previously been staged on Broadway and in London, as "the theatrical event of the season".
