Last Chance to See I, Keano in Dublin

Last chance to see I, Keano in Dublin People staying in cheap hotels in Dublin at the end of May will have to act fast if they want to grab the last chance to see the critically acclaimed show I, Keano.

This comedy musical takes an unusual topic as its focus - the falling-out between footballer Roy Keane and Republic of Ireland coach Mick McCarthy on the eve of the 2002 World Cup.

I, Keano transplants the story into a Shakespearean setting, with characters attired in Roman dress and arguing their cases in epic, grandiose terms.

Speaking to the Guardian about the clash between Keane and McCarthy, Michael Nugent, one of the writers behind the musical, said: "It was my generation's civil war.

"Two huge egos were clashing and neither man was able to back down. We were inspired by the ludicrousness of an entire nation being divided over a couple of people kicking a ball around."

People staying in cheap hotels in Dublin can see the show as part of its extended run at the Olympia Theatre until May 31st.
