Last of the Summer Blooms
August offers a last chance to visit the Garden of Ireland as the Wicklow Gardens Festival draws to a close.
Running from May 1st to August 14th 2007, the festival involves the opening of some of the grandest and most exotic gardens in the whole of Ireland, with many large country homes and heritage properties being open to the public for the only time in the year.
Visitors staying in cheap hotels will be able to stroll round large and varied estates and enjoy plants from all over the world, with organisers listing nearly 40 participating gardens.
The locations are spread across the county, allowing for an exploration of an area that stretches from the outskirts of Dublin to the Wicklow Mountains, topped by the peak of Lugnaquilia, offering both beauty and a chance to enjoy both urban and rural life in this fascinating part of Ireland.
