More Than 1m to Hit Dublin for St Patrick's
Cheap hotels in Dublin are set to do a roaring trade this weekend as the city welcomes a massive influx of partygoers for St Patrick's Day.
The day itself falls on March 17th this year but the festivities will kick off on March 13th and cover the whole weekend.
According to a spokeswoman for Tourism Ireland, well over a million people will visit Dublin for the festival, which began life as a one-day event.
"Dublin is still an extremely popular destination for St Patrick's Day," the spokeswoman added.
"In recent years the holiday has become the focal point of a festival in Dublin which reflects the diverse talents of the Irish and increasingly international people."
The whole of the city takes on a party atmosphere during the festival, with music, street theatre, fireworks displays, pageants, exhibitions and dance shows keeping visitors entertained.
Celebrations come to a peak on March 17th as the St Patrick's Day parade courses through Dublin.
