National Gallery of Ireland Collection on Show
Art lovers staying in cheap hotels in Dublin this summer can visit a new exhibition at the National Gallery of Ireland.
From Raphael to Rossetti: Drawings from the Collection opened on May 16th and people staying in cheap hotels in Dublin will be able to see it until August 23rd.
Around 40 drawings feature in the display, introducing visitors to the work of artists ranging from famous draftsmen to more obscure figures.
Pieces by Gainsborough, Cuyp, Primaticcio, Guercino and many others are included in the showcase, spanning some 400 years from the 15th to the 19th century.
The exhibition explores the many uses that drawing and sketching has had for artists over the centuries, from working out compositions for paintings to recording the world through still-life.
Travellers visiting Dublin this summer will also be able to head to the National Gallery of Ireland before August 23rd to see a selection of illustrations that were created for Hans Christian Andersen's book Fairy Tales.
