Red Hot Curragh
Those who love their horse racing will always feel at home in Ireland where it is almost a national sport and major events like the 2,000 Guineas are key events on the national sporting calendar.
Held on May 26th at the Curragh racecourse in county Kildare, the 2,000 Guineas in Ireland is the direct equivalent of its UK equivalent, the highlight of the flat racing year and the main race in the Boylesports Irish Guineas Festival.
According to the Curragh website Racecourse, general admission to the course costs €20 (£13.50).
The course is close to the small town of Newbridge, which has plenty of accommodation, including cheap hotels, plus a number of attractions.
People with ancestry in the region can try to trace their family tree at the Kildare Heritage and Genealogy Centre, while there is plenty of food and drink, nightlife and entertainment, offering plenty of traditional Irish hospitality and fun.
