St Patrick's Day is one of the most widely celebrated saint's days around the world and is the national holiday that is marked in more countries around the globe than any other.

While the day itself lands on March 17th, the five-day build up to the big night is all part of the fun in Dublin, with music, street theatre, carnivals, dance, pageantry and comedy shows all on offer for the entertainment of visitors.

The extravaganza is kicked off with the impressive Night Spectacle, which sees Dublin's sky illuminated as music, dance and colourful parades take place below.

In total, 4,000 performers are expected to gather in the Irish city for the event and they will be watched by around one million revellers and partygoers.
