Some Corking Singing
Those who enjoy a sing-song and a party will often find Ireland a good place to go, but even more so in early May as this is the occasion of the Cork International Choral Festival.
Held from May 2nd to the 6th, the 53rd edition of the event will see a long line-up of international amateur choirs compete for the Fleischmann International Trophy.
Performances are held in various venues around the city, which has plenty of cheap hotels for visitors.
Ireland's third largest city also has a number of interesting things to see and do.
These include the Cobh Heritage Centre, which features various aspects of the city's eventful history, including the stopover by the Titanic at Queenstown harbour on its ill-fated maiden voyage, the Blarney Castle Estate, featuring the famously kissable stone and St Finnbarrs Cathedral.
Beyond the city area, County Cork has some outstanding scenery, including the rugged Atlantic coastline and Ireland's highest mountains.
