Walk in Rebel Footsteps
Visitors to Dublin who are interested in history can partake in a walking tour of the scenes of the 1916 Easter uprising every day until October 30th 2007.
The event, a pivotal moment in Irish history, saw a group of Irish republicans seek to declare independence from Britain in the wake of the extension of conscription to Ireland during the First World War.
It was these events that saw the rise of Sinn Fein, the attempt by Britain to put down the uprising and, ultimately, the partition of Ireland in 1921.
Key locations in Dublin that were seized by the rebels will feature in the tour, bringing to life events that continue to resonate now, even after the major political changes of recent years.
Tours begin at 11.30 local time (13:00 on Sundays) at the International Bar in Wicklow Street and last two hours.
Visitors staying in cheap hotels can buy a ticket for the tours for 12 (£8).
