An Italian Pepper Frenzy

Holidaymakers looking for a little extra spice for their trip abroad could find a literal manifestation of their wish in the form of a festival celebrating the humble pepper in Italy.

While undoubtedly a popular foodstuff, gastronomes in Motta di Costigliole have taken their admiration of the vegetable to a new level, with a number of pepper-related festivities on show.

Needless to say, much of the food served during the course of the festival is pepper-centric, although the area is known for producing a famous variety of square-shaped red pepper.
