Another White Night in the Eternal City
On September 8th 2006, Rome will once again be open all hours as it plays host to the city's major international event, White Night.
Many travellers make the trip to the ancient city, while the local residents also become involved, as the city stays awake overnight to celebrate the occasion.
Notte Bianca, as it is known in Italy, will see hundreds of events take place, featuring thousands of artists, starting with a performance of a scene from Romeo and Juliet at the Piazza de Campidoglio, choreographed by Amedeo Amodio.
The city's most important institutions, academies, theatres, art galleries and businesses take place in the event, offering visitors the chance to take in the breathtaking history and architecture in a new light.
Visitors may well wish to book a room in one of the city's cheap hotels, as Rome stays awake until a bleary-eyed 08:00 local time.
Organisers promise amazement and mystery in the event, along with poetry, games and, of course, parties.
