Apollo of Mantua Lands in Rome
People staying in cheap hotels in Rome over the coming months will be able to see an impressive statue in the city's Musei Capitolini as the result of a special initiative being run by the museum.
'Hosting' is an exhibition that encourages the temporary exchange of important artworks between museums.
Hosting Apollo of Mantua will see the distinctive statue Apollo of Mantua housed in the Musei Capitolini's Arazzi Hall until January 6th.
Apollo of Mantua is a marble work dated between 117 and 138 AC, meaning it was created during the reign of the great Roman emperor Hadrian.
Rome's Musei Capitolini is one of the Italian capital's most famous institutions, comprising three different art and archaeological museums on top of the famous Capitoline Hill.
One of the most famous objects in the museum's collection is the Capitoline Wolf, a bronze statue of a wolf suckling Romulus and Remus, the mythical founders of Rome.
