Art Under the Alps
Art lovers will have a great reason to head to Turin this autumn as the city hosts the Artissima contemporary art fair.
Running from the 9th to the 11th of November 2007, the event features a wide range of modern art with an emphasis on emerging talent, allowing visitors staying in cheap hotels in the city to see who might just be the next emerging star of the art world.
The event is held in the Turin Lingotto and entry is 12 (£8) or 8 for concessions such as students and over-65s, according to festival organisers.
Having spent long hours enjoying the huge range of sculptures and paintings from many countries, an exploration of the city's other attractions may seem in order.
Turin has plenty of interest to offer, from its cathedral containing the famous Turin Shroud to its Alpine scenery, the city having hosted the last Winter Olympics.
By November, there may be opportunities to head off for some skiing, or alternatively those who love sport as well as art could catch a Juventus home game.
