Celebrate the Arts in Venice
Anyone with at least a passing interest in the arts will find something to intrigue them at this year's Venice Biennale.
This event showcases a wide range of talent across the art, film, music, theatre, architecture and dance worlds between June and November. Exhibitions and festivals set up shop at venues across Venice, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors each time the Biennale takes place.
In 2007, attendees will be able to view works of visual art from more than 100 artists representing nearly 80 countries, including the UK's Tracey Emin, Japan's Yukio Fujimoto, Nigeria's Yinka Shonibare and the US' Emily Prince.
Elsewhere, the Venice Film Festival sees numerous directors compete for the Golden Lion prize, while also showing films and features in a range of categories, including short films and the works of Tim Burton.
Music-wise, composers from across the globe will compete for another prestigious prize, while the dance festival takes on the theme of Body and Eros.
Visitors who might be staying in cheap hotels in Venice can also look out for the theatre stars of the future by checking out the work of students from all over Europe as part of the International Theatre Festival.
