Discover Robert Rauschenberg in Venice

Discover Robert Rauschenberg in Venice People who are familiar with the art of Robert Rauschenberg, or have an interest in modern art and sculpture, will have the opportunity to visit a fascinating exhibition in Venice this year.

Entitled Robert Rauschenberg: Gluts, the display of around 40 sculptures will come to the Peggy Guggenheim Collection from May 30th to September 20th.

The exhibition focuses on a series of works Rauschenberg created between 1986 and 1995 that celebrate the visual properties of metal.

To create the pieces, the artist assembled various found metal objects such as petrol station signs, industrial equipment and car parts, turning them into wall reliefs and free-standing sculptures with a striking visual style.

Rauschenberg first rose to prominence in the 1950s and over the decades explored creative areas including technology-based art and the value of natural-fibre materials such as cardboard and fabric.
