Find a Cheap Hotel in Venice for City Carnival
Book a cheap hotel in Venice in February for the annual Venice Carnival.
Visitors come to the city to experience the cultural delights of one of the oldest carnivals in the world. This 13th century festival is where locals dress in tricorn hooded masks, an iconic symbol of Venice.
Over two weeks the city is filled with street parades, masquerades and music. St Mark's Square will be filled with dancers and street performers. And, in keeping with true baroque style, there are masked balls and gala dinners in period costume.
Palazzo Pisani-Moretta hosts the grandest ball, with guests arriving by gondola through the Grand Canal. Everything at masked balls are strictly in keeping with tradition: Venetian food, baroque music, acrobats and ballroom dancing.
Each year the carnival holds a different theme. This year is 'Sensation', inviting visitors to discover, see, feel, touch, smell and taste the city and its six districts.
The carnival runs from February 6th until the 16th.
