Glimpse Some New Art in Venice

Glimpse some new art in Venice Travellers staying in cheap hotels in Venice this year will be able to visit some new exhibitions showcasing work by exciting contemporary artists.

The Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation on Piazza San Marco will launch an exhibition on May 31st featuring work by Rebecca Horn, a German artist who has experimented in various art forms during her career.

Horn has dabbled in everything from performance art and film to sculpture and poetry, regularly dealing with universal human themes such as health - of both the physical and psychological kind - and love.

Visitors to Venice will also be able to head to the Querini Stampalia Foundation from June 3rd to September 20th this year to see a showcase dedicated to Mona Hatoum, an artist who was born in Lebanon but now lives and works in London.

Hatoum is known for infusing his works with a surrealist sense of humour and creating unusual pieces such as assemblages of household furniture wired up to an electric current.

People with a passion for modern art may also be interested in visiting Venice's Peggy Guggenheim Collection, which this year is hosting an exhibition of futurist art.
