Heavy metal fans have a good reason to head to Milan this summer as the Gods of Metal festival takes place in the city in June.

There are two parts to the event, two days of headbanging in Milan's Idropark Fila on June 2nd and 3rd 2007, with another date on the 30th in Bologna for anyone fancying another visit.

Fans of the musical genre will be able to enjoy some of the biggest name acts around, with the published schedule including the likes of Thin Lizzy, Motley Crue and Megadeth.

According to organisers, tickets are €55 for one day or €95 for two, plus a 15 per cent box office commission, while doors open at 10:00 local time, the event rocking on until 23:30.

Visitors staying in cheap hotels in Milan can also enjoy many other attractions in the city.

The fine architecture of the Piazza del Duomo and Castello Forzesco offer a fine taster of the rich culture of the city, perhaps providing a breather after all that ear-bashing in the park, while the city is a major fashion centre as well as offering some of Italy's finest cuisine.
