Go Up and Down the Bridges of Venice

Go up and down the bridges of Venice People staying in cheap hotels in Venice will have the perfect chance to explore its famous bridges at a traditional festival this year.

This customary event invites all people to join in a non-competitive walk up and down the bridges that are found in various parts of the Italian city.

A mass is held in Piazza San Marco to begin the event, after which participants gather to begin their journey.

People taking part will be divided into two groups – those who want to walk the full 10km route, which includes 42 bridges, and those who are more interested in having fun and enjoying the atmosphere.

The shorter trip covers about 5km and features 28 bridges.

This event, which will be held on April 13th this year, is seen as more of a march than a competition, so children are welcome to join in.

Owing to the many canals and waterways that effectively serve as streets in Venice, the city's bridges are among its most famous landmarks.

The best-known crossings in Venice include the Rialto bridge, the Accademia bridge and the Piazzale Roma footbridge.
