Goa Boa in Genoa

Goa Boa in Genoa Genoa is to host its Goa Boa festival, an increasingly important event in the European music calendar, between the July 6th and 8th this year.

Though the full line up has yet to be confirmed, artists set to appear include the international acts Lou Rhodes, We Are Scientists and George Clinton, who will play alongside a number of Italian stars, including Carmen Consoli and Fabri Fibra.

The festival, which originally was located in the industrial outskirts of Genoa, has steadily moved towards the city centre and the sea.

Its name comes from the city's airport's code, GOA, alongside the Italian word for buoy, boa, to signify the organisers' intentions that the event should become an important reference point for the international contemporary music scene.

The event will follow on from Genoa's International Poetry Festival, which takes place in the city every June, while the Gezmataz festival of improvisational jazz is set to take place at the end of July.
