International Horse Show Canters into Rome
People staying in cheap hotels in Rome in May will be able to enjoy one of the grandest aspects of the equestrian calendar.
The International Horse Show at Piazza di Siena, which is one of the most important and exciting events in the field of equestrian sports, will celebrate its 76th outing between May 22nd and 25th this year.
Visitors will be able to find this year's show in the opulent surroundings of Villa Borghese, which is seen as a sacred location for Italian horse riding.
Over its many years, the Piazza di Siena event has succeeded in combining sport and tradition and since 2003 has been part of the prestigious Samsung Super League of major showjumping competitions.
One of the highlights of the show is the mounted carabinieri display, which celebrates historical themes that have a connection with Piazza di Siena, including memory, devotion and sacrifice.
The closing ceremony of the festival sees 145 horses cooperate to put on a fantastic evening show.
Piazza di Siena is seen as one of the architectural highlights of Villa Borghese and has a history stretching back to the 18th century.
