Island of Film
Anyone who ever fancied being on a desert island with nothing to do but watch lots of films won't quite be able to do that in Rome, but while the desert may be missing, the island is not.
The Isola Del Cinema takes place on Tiberina Island in Rome, with the waters of the River Tiber flowing either side and free films being shown from June to September (dates to be confirmed).
According to organisers, the event has a wide range of films from both Italy and elsewhere, shown at the Sala Visconti and Sala Cinelab.
Visitors enjoying the event can also take a bridge over the Tiber and see the myriad Attractions of the Eternal City.
From the Coliseum to the Vatican, the Spanish steps to the Pantheon, Rome's treasures need no introduction.
Rome has plenty of accommodation, including cheap hotels.
