John Cale Work on Display in Venice
People staying in cheap hotels in Venice over the coming months will have the opportunity to see an installation by the musician, composer and producer John Cale.
Dark Days will be based at the Capannone venue on the Giudecca island until November 22nd.
The audiovisual work is inspired by the social, poetic and cultural landscape of Wales, Cale's homeland.
It provides a representation of the artist's personal relationship with the country, focusing specifically on its language and issues related to the concept of communication.
Cale is best known for his work in the music industry, having co-founded the experimental rock group The Velvet Underground and collaborated with artists such as Siouxsie and the Banshees, Brian Eno, Patti Smith and James Dean Bradfield.
His audiovisual installation is on display in Venice as part of the city's 53rd International Art Exhibition at the 2009 Biennale.
People with an interest in art can also visit the Fortuny Museum in Venice before November 15th to see the exhibition In-Finitum, which features work by artists who have explored the concept of infinity.
