Just Champion

Football fans could be in for a big treat if they head to Milan in August as they are sure to see the champions in action.

In this month the Serie A football season will begin (date to be confirmed) and expectant crowds will pour into the famous Guiseppe Meazza Stadium in the San Siro district, a vast arena shared by two giants of the game, AC Milan and Internazionale.

Fixtures for the season are yet to be published, but a champion team will be in action as AC Milan are the reigning champions of Europe following their victory over Liverpool in Athens and Internazionale were last year's runaway champions of Italy, losing just one game all season and finishing 22 points ahead of AS Roma.

Visitors will be able to take in the intoxicating atmosphere as well as watch some of the world's most famous players in action.

Outside the stadium, visitors staying in cheap hotels will be able to enjoy the many sights, sounds and tastes of a stylish city known for its fashion.

While some may head for the boutiques, others will admire the vast cathedral, one of the world's biggest, or the Pinacoteca Brera with its many famous artworks.

Alternatively, visitors can relax at a pavement cafe and enjoy fine Italian food and wine.
