Mark Knopfler to Rock Rome
Former Dire Straits frontman Mark Knopfler will be stopping off in Rome this year as part of an extensive tour that will take him all over Europe and the US.
People staying in cheap hotels in Rome will be able to see the guitarist and his famous red and white Fender Stratocaster at the Palalottomatica in the Piazzale dello Sport on June 6th.
There will be a number of other top European cities on the tour, including Sofia on June 11th, Istanbul on June 13th and Athens on June 15th.
The American stage of Knopfler's musical trip, which will run from the end of June throughout July, will take in New York, Chicago, Las Vegas and Los Angeles, among others.
After rising to fame as the leader of Dire Straits, the singer and songwriter decided to try his chances as a solo artist and the tour will support his new album Kill to Get Crimson.
Fans will be able to hear songs that bear more folk and country hallmarks than Knopfler's famous rock tunes, including Golden Heart and Sailing to Philadelphia.
