Places of Interest in Milan
Corso di Porta Ticinese is a long street running from the historic centre to the Navigil district. The street is very popular with young people meeting and people watching from the bars and cafes. There are some great clubs and bars also in this area.
Giardini Pubblici is a former private garden of the 18th century aristocrats. The park has been lovingly restored with avenues, sculptures, landscaped gardens and ponds.
Plazza del Duomo is located in front of the Cathedral in Milan. This square has been a popular meeting place for the people of Milan for centuries. Work on the great Cathedral took over six centuries to complete. The interior of this great Cathedral is very impressive and has 52 columns supporting it. The stained glass windows date back to the 15th century. Outside on the Plazza you will find the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, one of the worlds oldest and grandest shopping malls.
Dinning out in Milan
Eating out for under £10.00 then try the Pizzeria Meucci at 18 Via Meravigli.
The pizzeria is near the Milan stock exchange and is very lively at lunchtime and offers great food.
For under £20.00 head to Cantamilano at 1 Via Corsico, this intriguing little restaurant serves up music and food from the Lombardy region. The house specialty is a bittersweet pumpkin tortelloni.
For under £35.00 try the La Pesa at 10 Via Pasubio. This long and well established restaurant with the Milanese offers specialties such as saffron risotto, knuckle of veal and casserole of pork.
A Night Out in Milan
For a low-key evening start at the Le Vigne situated at 61 Ripa di Porta Ticinese. This cosy little wine bar is a great place to start of the evening.
If you're looking for some live music then head for the Blue Note at 37 Via Borsieri. This is must for jazz lovers, the blue note is part of the famous Blue Note chain.
For those who like a late night then make your way over to Borgo del Tempo perso at 36 Via Fabio Massimo. This restaurant / disco bar is open to the small hours, there is an entrance fee of 20 euros that includes a drink.
A Milanese Tip
The Antique market is one of Milan's lesser-known attractions and is a little gem. The market is on every third Sunday of the month at Via Fiori Chiari in the heart of the up market Bfera district. The market is small in size but has some real quality pieces.
A Day Out in Milan
The historic city of Parma is certainly worth a visit if you can squeeze it in. The city of Parma is 120km from Milan, but is easily accessible by train. Home of the world famous Parma ham the city has much more to see and offer.
Getting from Milan Airport (Malpensa)
Train
The Malpensa express departs every thirty minutes starting at 06.45 until 21.45 and takes one hour into Milan Centrale at a cost of 4.50 euros.
Bus
The Malpensa shuttle departs for the Centrale station every 20 minutes from 06.20 till 00.15 journey time is about 1 hour, tickets cost 4.50 euros.
Taxi
There are taxis outside the arrival hall the trip by car takes almost 50 minutes and will cost you about 70 euros.
