The Miracle Players is an English-speaking performance company that has been putting on shows in Rome that mix history with comedy every summer since 1998.

This year they will be presenting The History of Rome – Part 1, which visitors will be able to see every Friday at the Roman Forum until August 8th.

Inventive methods of storytelling and hilarious characterisation are used to encapsulate thousands of years of history into the 40-minute show.

The production features some of the most prominent protagonists in Roman history, including Romulus and Remus, Mark Anthony and Cleopatra and the emperors Julius Caesar and Nero.

Various inspirational sources were used in the creation of the show, from ancient thinkers such as Plutarch right up to modern visionaries such as Monty Python.

The Roman Forum was the central area around which much of ancient Rome was formed and is one of the city's most popular tourist attractions.
