Run Roman Run

Run Roman Run For those looking to do something really athletic with a weekend in Rome, the city's marathon takes place on Sunday, March 18th.

What seems an eternal race winds through the eternal city in a spectacular route that takes in several of the main sights of the city, although there is no time to stop as feet and legs take a pounding on the 26 mile and 385 yard course.

The course crosses the Tiber, heads past the Olympic Stadium, skirts the Vatican, takes in the Trevi Fountains and finishes by the Coliseum, by which time all who run will be tired, but delighted and relieved to have completed the course and earned their medal.

For those not able to do the whole race, there is a shorter fun run.

Rome has plenty of accommodation, including cheap hotels, while the famous sights of the city can also be seen at leisure by spectators and runners, though the latter may be well advised to do this on the Saturday.
