Second Chance for Revenge in Rome

Second chance for revenge in Rome The quarter-final stage of the 2006-07 Champions League season saw Manchester United inflict on Roma one of the heaviest and most embarrassing defeats ever suffered by a major European club.

Francesco Totti and his teammates from the Italian capital were beaten 7-1 by the now Premiership champions, who were eventually knocked out in the semi-final by AC Milan.

This season the Serie A side were given the opportunity to get some revenge on United when they were drawn in the same qualifying group as the Red Devils.

However the first match at Old Trafford just rubbed salt in Roman wounds as the home side won 1-0.

Anybody with a cheap hotel booking in Rome around December 12th will be able to see the Italian team have another crack at getting their own back on the players that humiliated them in April.

This is sure to be a competitive and gritty encounter that might not always be pretty.

The city of Rome itself, however, is one of the most beautiful in Europe, so while the outcome of the game will be unpredictable, tourists can be sure to enjoy some stunning sights in this ancient metropolis.
