Sophia Loren Exhibit Opens in Rome
Film legend Sophia Loren has become the first Italian woman to be honoured at the Victor Emmanuel Monument in Rome.
An exhibition in honour of the star opened at the monument this weekend and showcases the 71-year-old's life.
The actress is the only Italian since the 19th century military hero Garibaldi to have an exhibition dedicated to her at the site.
At the unveiling ceremony, Ms Loren told the Times between sobs that she has never forgotten her roots.
The exhibition includes film scripts, letters, prizes, costumes, jewellery, photographs, portraits and film posters.
A number of hats and dresses that were specially designed for the voluptuous actress by Giorgio Armani are also on display.
