Tourin' in Turin

Tourin' in Turin Visitors to the northern Italian city of Turin will be able to combine a fascinating visit to the city with a concert which rolls back the years.

By day, attractions such as the famous Turin Shroud, on display at the Cathedral of St John the Baptist take centre stage, but come the evening of October 2nd a trip to see the Police is in order.

Luckily for those staying in cheap hotels in the city, this does not mean a night in the clink but a visit to the Stadio Delli Alpi to see the re-formed and only slightly wrinkly band belting out some of their most time-honoured hits.

The stadium itself is currently being modified, but when ready in 2008 it will resume its status as home to Juventus, Italy's most famous football club and perhaps the only club in the world whose name (meaning youth) and nickname - La Veccia Signora (the old lady) - mean the opposite to each other.

As the stadium name suggests, Turin is also close to the Alps and was the host of the 2004 Winter Olympics, so there is plenty of mountain scenery close at hand.
