Venice Biennale Art Show to Open in June
Venice will be the place to be for art lovers in June as the Biennale's 53rd International Art Exhibition opens.
Titled Making Worlds, the event will be open for people staying in cheap hotels in Venice to visit at the Giardini and Arsenale exhibition venues from June 7th to November 22nd.
The exhibition will feature work by more than 90 artists from all over the world, including new pieces and on-site commissions.
Commenting on the name of the event, exhibition director Daniel Birnbaum said: "Making Worlds expresses my wish to emphasise the process of creation. A work of art represents a vision of the world and if taken seriously it can be seen as a way of making a world."
One of the highlights of this year's Biennale art exhibition will be the presentation of two Golden Lion lifetime achievement awards to Yoko Ono and John Baldessari.
The Venice Biennale is one of the world's most prestigious cultural institutions with a history dating back to 1895 and reputation for supporting new artistic trends and promoting the avant-garde.
