Visit Venice for the Murano Regatta
Travellers staying in cheap hotels in Venice at the beginning of July this year will be in the city as it hosts its famous Murano Regatta.
The races will set off from Canale di Murano, pass along Canale dei Marani and return to the jetty at Palazzo da Mula.
Taking place on July 5th, the regatta will consist of three separate races setting off at 16:30, 17:15 and 18:00.
Experienced male competitors use one-oar gondolas to navigate around the canal system of Murano and the lagoon surrounding the island, while women and younger competitors are allowed to use lighter vessels known as 'pupparini'.
Murano, one of many small island groups located throughout Venice, is famous for its glasswork, particularly the design and construction of lamps.
People staying in cheap hotels in Venice any time between April and September will have a good chance of seeing a regatta in the city's canals, with more than 120 of the events held over the summer period.
