Works of Titian Come to Venice
Venice, one of Europe's foremost destinations for culture and sophistication, will this year host an exploration of the work of Titian.
Titian was the leader of the Venetian school of the Italian Renaissance, who lived and worked at the same time as the likes of Michelangelo and Leonardo Da Vinci.
He was known for being a particularly versatile painter, creating everything from portraits to landscapes to mythological scenes.
Until April 20th this year, people staying in cheap hotels in Venice will be able to find an exhibition called Late Titian and the Sensuality of Painting at the Galleria dell'Accademia.
This showcase will include 28 of the artist's masterpieces created between 1550 and 1576.
One of the main focuses will be Titian's 'pittura a macchia' technique, which was characterised by visible brushstrokes and patchiness within paintings that created a noticeable sensation of the artist's hand working on the canvas.
The Venice exhibition follows the success of a display of Titian's work held at Vienna's Kunsthistorisches Museum last year.
