You Nose This Will Be Good
It's no lie to say that generations of children are familiar with the tale of Pinocchio, the wooden puppet who wanted to be a boy but let down by his tendency to tell fibs, each of which led to his nose getting longer.
The Tuscan town of Pescia is so proud of the stories, (although they were actually written in the nearby village of Collodi) that it celebrates the birthday of the famous puppet every year on May 25th, with all things Pinnochio-related in evidence.
It would not do justice to Collodi, however, to miss visiting the village, where the Park of Pinnochio recreates the theme with a walkway featuring statues of the characters in the stories along the way.
Those staying in cheap hotels in the area can also enjoy a variety of other attractions, with the hills around the city of Pesca and village of Collidi offering beautiful scenery and many vineyards.
