Every August, 40 couples take part in a mass wedding ceremony at the Imilchil Wedding Festival in the Middle-High Atlas Mountains amid a host of parties and celebrations to mark the legend of two lovers who drowned themselves in their own tears because their families would not let them be together.

The event also takes place as a kind of social networking opportunity for members of different Berber tribes, with women traditionally dressing up in their finest clothes before the men take their pick of the group, reports whatsonwhen.com.
