Morocco Visitors Urged to See Fes
Holidaymakers staying in cheap hotels in Marrakech have been urged to fit a visit to another Moroccan city, Fes, into their trip.
Fes was included in a list of the top ten cities for travellers to see in 2009 compiled by destination guide publisher DK Eyewitness Travel.
The company said that Fes could prove a popular option among people looking for a different type of experience to the bustling souks and hectic activity of Marrakech.
DK Eyewitness Travel describes the city as Morocco's "spiritual and cultural hub", a destination with streets that are "alive with commerce" and a mosque with a history dating back to the year 859.
A number of regions were included in the top ten cities list, with Buenos Aires, Washington DC and Seattle representing the Americas.
For travellers who are planning to take their journeys in Europe, the guide publisher recommended the English city of Bristol, Gdansk in Poland and the capitals of Copenhagen and Vienna.
