Test Your Mettle at the Marrakech Marathon

Runners and fitness fanatics with a taste for marathons in stunning surroundings should start arranging their hotels in Morocco soon, ahead of the Marrakech marathon in January.

It was announced that, under the patronage of King Mohammed VI, the eighteenth Marrakech Marathon will take place on January 27th.

Some 5,000 runners are expected to take part in the race this year in the beautiful environs of Marrakech.

This city enjoys a very mild climate in January and offers a picturesque circuit that is considered one of the fastest in the world. Runners will pass orange and olive groves, palm trees and also have the opportunity to see the ramparts of the city.

Visitors who don't feel up to the full 42km of the full marathon will have the chance to take part in the half-marathon.

Marrakech is located in south-west Morocco, in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains, and is home to a number of mosques, synagogues, palaces and mausolea.
