A Maast-see
Anyone who thought Maastricht was just some place where a treaty was signed may be surprised at the thought of it as a centre of fine arts, but that is exactly what the town is in March.
Held between the 9th and the 18th of the month, the European Fine Art Fair comprises a vast collection of works of arts and antiques, encompassing many styles and periods of history and offering collectors many chances to buy something special.
Entry is €55 (£37) per person, including one catalogue.
Apart from the fair, Maastricht offers a wide range of things to see and do.
The Bonnefanten Museum offers more in the way of fine art, there are two fine basilicas, Treasure St Servatious and Treasure house Basilica of our lady, plus the wartime Eben Emael Fort just outside the town.
Maastricht's location close to both borders also offers visitors staying in cheap hotels in the area to extend their trip into Belgium or Germany.
